Day 12 of 100 Days of Good Karma.
The original Day 12 post I drafted was a thinly disguised ‘Why Me?” letter to God in which I cursed and railed in a most unladylike manner. Since that’s sort of a drag to write (and to read), I held off on clicking the Publish button.
I mean, I’m supposed to be funny, damn it.
And all I can think of is that Tim McGraw song where he gets bad news from the doctor before going skydiving, climbing a mountain and riding a bull with a strange name.
Tell me, Tim, where’d you find all that peaceful zen? Because it’s in short supply here.
Frustrated, I walked away to find something else to do. That ‘something else’ turned out to be checking the mail with Connor.
He turned the key, peeked inside the mail slot and shrieked, “We got something!”
Sure enough, there was another surprise package, and it was addressed to yours truly.
Today’s silver lining: Inside was a lovely little note, an copy of Still Writing by Dani Shapiro, and a tiny notebook from one of my favorite Bloggers, Tammy at RowdyKittens.
I flipped through the copy of Still Writing and was surprised to find handwritten notes on the inside. It looks like Tammy sent me her own personal copy of the book. I have a few books I’ve taken notes in. I know how important those books are to me. So the consideration put into this gift is not lost on me.
Thank you, Tammy. Sometimes silver linings come just when you need them.
Which brings me back to my angry letter to God, now revised.
In case You did get a chance to read the original post, I’m sorry. Today was a tough one. I’ll try not to be such an asshole tomorrow, okay?
ps. I do have one question for you. Do you really listen to KBSU 89.3? Because the bumper stickers say GOD LISTENS, and that always struck me as sort of… well… over-confident.
What’s your silver lining today? I love comments!
