Day 60 of 100 Days of Good Karma.
I left the house this morning unsure if I would be allowed to do chemotherapy today. I was sick yesterday and I thought my blood counts would show I wasn’t healthy enough for chemotherapy.
But, just in case, I put on the numbing cream (my own this time) and took my anti-nausea medicine.
At the last minute I put on my battle gear for the day: A lovely charm bracelet sent to me by a friend of my mother’s.
I thought the message on the charm was appropriate, since all I could do was show up for my appointment and hope.
The bracelet turned out to be a lucky charm, because chemo round six is done! That means I’m 50% done with this round of medicine!
Six more treatments with this drug, then on to the second drug chemotherapy drug.
I still don’t feel completely awesome, but I do feel better than yesterday. I hope whatever hit me on Monday passes soon and I’ll get back to feeling normal again.
As normal as possible anyway.
Today’s silver lining: That I was even allowed to do chemotherapy at all.
I know that sounds weird, that I want to do chemotherapy. Cancer treatment is funny like that. The only way out is through and I want to avoid as many delays as I can.
What’s your silver lining today? I love comments!
xoxo,
Meghan
ps. If you’d like to join us on October 4, 2014 for the Susan G. Komen breast cancer walk, you can register as part of our walking team“Save a Life, Grope Your Wife!”. Or if you don’t want to walk, you can support our efforts with a pledge contribution. The money raised through the Race will fund vital education, screening and treatment programs for underserved women in our own community and support the national search for a cure.
I hope to see you out there!
yay–glad that you can keep moving through the treatments. Also, those T-shirts are so super awesome!
All of my doctors have been on board with me continuing to run/workout during treatment. They said it helps with fatigue (it does). It also keeps me from losing my mind. I listen to my body. When it says go easy, I go easy. Otherwise it’s business as usual. 🙂
I registered for the walk today, but I’m on the Marathon team.
Awesome! We’ll have to get a picture together on race day! 🙂
Honey I don’t post often, but you are so in my thoughts and prayers. I want to tell you how proud I am of the woman that you are. The grace with which you have handled all that has been thrown at you!! Going thru every thing you are you are so beautiful girl!!
Thank you! 🙂
I love the hat you are wearing in this picture. Can I just buy a shirt? You look soooo good and here we go with round 2 soon? You are amazing. I’m so glad you are my daughter. Please don’t overdue it in the race. What can I say, I’m a mommy! Love you, Mom
I’ll ask about a tshirt. Email me your size. I still have 6 more treatments left on this drug then they switch to the second drug. Just marking them off the calendar as they happen. 🙂
Meghan;
Is there a way I can get a t-shirt? If they let me know how much the shirt plus postage is I can send a check or give them my card number.. Is someone going to get bracelets? Those rubber things with your name and logo. I would love some of those too. Let me know.
Love ya,
Auntie Pat
I’ll ask about the tshirt. Email me your size. We didn’t order any bracelets, so I’m not sure about that one, but I can probably get you a tshirt. 🙂
If only I could look as beautiful as you when I am not feeling well. :). Xoxo
Lipstick and bravado go a long way together. 😉
