Day 75 of 100 Days of Good Karma.

My day was ordinary.  Just ordinary.

I worked out. I folded clothes. I took a nap. Our biggest adventure was getting flu vaccines (yay for nose mist, no-needle vaccinations!).

It was a good day but no particular moment stands out as my Silver Lining.  I went to bed wondering what I’d write for this blog post.

Sleep on it, I thought. You’ll come up with something.

I slept on it, but I woke up as clueless what to write as when I went to bed.

As I always do when I get stuck, I got caught up in worry.

Had I tapped myself out?  Was 74 days of Silver Linings all I could manage?

But I was so close to finishing the 100DaysofGoodKarma. There had to be some sort of Silver Lining!

Some days it’s easy to think of a Silver Lining.  The moment stands out clear and bright, and I know without a doubt what I’ll write about.

On other days, like today, that ‘tapped out’ feeling takes over and I have to dig deeper.

When I have to search for a Silver Lining I start with this premise:  Every day has a Silver Lining.  Every single one.

Then I try and focus on moments in my day.

(Hint: The Silver Lining is usually in the tiny moments.)

Here are some questions I ask myself when I’m having trouble finding my Silver Lining:

    1.  What moment made you laugh?
    2.  What moment made you cry?
    3.  What moment made you feel at peace with the world?
    4.  What moment made you grateful for your life?
    5.  What moment did you want to stay in forever?

Today’s silver lining:  The 100DaysofGoodKarma project.

In retrospect Tina and I probably should have named our project 100DaysofSilverLinings but life was dealing us some pretty serious blows to the head and we were a little delirious at the time of naming.

Whatever the name, this project has helped me find a positive outlook every day for 75 days during a time when I never thought I’d find a Silver Lining again.

It takes practice, but it’s taught me to be grateful for every single day, no matter how ordinary that day is.

What’s your silver lining today?  I love comments!

My silver lining is … I found somebody that simply gets me. My wish came true!

  3. Less than a month left of the project. It doesn’t feel like it’s been that long.

I’m with you, maybe I need to sleep on it. I’m experiencing major writers block today. Silver lining….hmmm, I forgot about some money I had put away and am now using it to renovate my office. Dreams becoming a reality again….thanks for sharing!
