Run/ Walk/ Bike/ Elliptical (Today: 3.1 miles; Running Total: 56.65 miles)
Day 143 of *Another* 100 Days of Good Karma.
Now that we’re back from Thanksgiving and I’m over the worst of the feeling crappy from chemo it’s time for my next set of mini fitness goals. Setting mini goals worked after the last round of chemo, so I’m doing it again.
The good news: I met my running goals from last time. Yay me!
The bad news: Unfortunately my right knee started bothering me with the strength training moves I selected. So instead of pushing forward and injuring myself I backed off. As for the stretch goal of (ha!) stretching, well, that happened once or twice and then ceased. Stretching requires patience, something I’ve always had in short supply.
I changed it up a little for this round of mini goals.
I’ve had long distance racing on the brain, so this time I’m going to do 26.2 miles, a full marathon — stretched out over the next 12 days, of course. This comes out to about 2.2 miles a day.
Also, since strength training didn’t go so well during the last round of mini-goals, I decided I’m going to pick one move and become a master at it for the next 12 days. The move I chose was a plank. Planks are awesome because they get your whole body involved. And, bonus, it doesn’t bother my knee.
Instead of stretching I’m going to commit to using my foam roller once a day. Foam rollers are good for releasing muscle tightness and (I’ve heard) can help with knee problems. I’ll report back after this round and let you know.
Today’s silver lining: It feels good to move around again.
What are your mini goals? I love comments!
