    Run/ Walk/ Bike/ Elliptical (Today:  3.00 miles;  Running Total: 237.91 miles)

Day 273 of *Another* 100 Days of Good Karma.

I looked at the instructions for today’s run in the Couch to 5K app and barked a single, humorless “Ha!”

The app said to “run 20 minutes (or two miles)”.

I’m flattered that the app assumes I’m running a ten minute mile. I’m totally not. I’m more in the twelve to thirteen minute mile range. So I ignored the mileage and focused on time.

The Couch to 5K app lets you see future runs in advance, so I’ve known about the ‘run for twenty minutes’ goal for a while. I’ve been worried about this run. After not doing so hot on Wednesday’s run I doubted myself. I wasn’t sure I’d be able to do it.

I started slow and just focused on putting one foot in front of the other. I made deals with myself like don’t look at the timer until you reach that stop sign and only five minutes left, then you can walk. I focused on controlling my breathing. I made myself go slow so I wouldn’t burn myself out before the timer went off.

    And. I. Did. It.

When the twenty minute timer went off I kind of wanted to punch my hands over my head and holler for Adrian. And I would have if I hadn’t been breathing so hard. I settled for walking the rest of the way home with a big ol’ smile on my face.

Later I was glad I didn’t push myself harder. I was really tired today. After radiation I took a long nap. I woke up for a while and did a few things around the house. Then I took another nap on the couch.

A very definite red square is forming where I’ve taken radiation treatment.

The square is from my neck down to my ribcage and the middle of my chest to under my arm. More blisters are forming in this new red area.

The burn under my arm is still the worst. It alternates between itching and hurting. It itch-hurts.

I live with the Cool Max patches on all the time, and try to keep the rest of the red square greased up with Aquaphor.

By the way, I hate Aquaphor. All my shirts and sports bras are ruined. They have giant grease spots all over them. I hope I never have to look at this stuff again when this is over.

Today’s silver lining: For the first time in months, I ran twenty minutes straight.

Five weeks ago I couldn’t do that. Now I can.

Imagine what I can do in another five weeks.

What’s your silver lining today?  I love comments!
