Run/ Walk/ Bike/ Elliptical (Today: 0.00 miles; Running Total: 244.42 miles)
Day 280 of *Another* 100 Days of Good Karma.
Connor woke up with a headache. He isn’t one to complain about pain so when he says he has a headache I know something is really wrong.
I kept him home from school praying the headache was just from allergies. The pollen count in Houston right now is ridiculous. It’s spring and getting warmer and it’s been raining like mad, so everything is growing and blooming. This always wreaks havoc on my kids’ allergies.
Except Connor wasn’t feeling any better as the morning wore on. He just laid on the couch and watched Minecraft videos on YouTube (his current obsession).
I felt his forehead for fever. He didn’t feel warm. I asked him, “Can you tell me where it hurts?”
He nodded miserably. He pointed to his head and under his chin.
“Your chin hurts?”
“No when I swallow.”
I worked out in another room, doing the Cross Fit Challenge again. I peeked in on him every few minutes. I was happy to see he ate a little bit of fruit for breakfast.
When I finished my workout and got into the shower he came in to the bathroom.
“Mommy, I threw up.”
I groaned. “Okay. Go lay back down.”
I called the doctor and made an appointment. My pediatrician’s office is pretty good about same-day appointments. Sure enough, he tested positive for strep throat. We caught it early, but my poor baby still feels like crap.
Today’s silver lining: At least he waited until after radiation ended to get sick.
This would have been much harder to deal with last week since he can’t go to school while he’s contagious.
What’s your silver lining today? I love comments!
