• The Story Writing Cycle

    1. A new idea strikes: “This is going to be the best story ever!”

    2. Plotting: “I’m never going to get this to work.”

    3. Rough Draft (making flinging motions with hands): “Super powers for everyone!”

    4. Second Draft (weeping into hands): “This story sucks. Writing sucks. I suck.”

    5. Third Draft (contemplating): “If I just put this here, and that there, oh, and cut that . . . yeah. That’s not so bad.”

    6. Submitting to publishers: “Why am I doing this? No one will like this. I should hide this and never, ever let anyone read it.” (clicks Submit) “I’m gonna throw up.”

    7. After submittal and before next idea: “There is a gaping hole in my life that can only be filled with chocolate and wine.”
